چکیده

s of unpublished, original research are presented during Poster Sessions and Block Symposia (oral presentations of poster data). This is perhaps the most dynamic aspect of the AAI annual meeting. Take part in face-to-face discussions with abstract authors and learn about their most recent, unpublished research. Poster Sessions will be held daily (unopposed by any other sessions) in the Exhibit Hall from 2:30 PM – 3:45 PM.

Coupling and Uncoupling of Tumor Immunity and Autoimmunity

Self-antigens, in the form of differentiation antigens, are commonly recognized by the immune system on melanoma and other cancers. We have shown previously that active immunization of mice against the melanocyte differentiation antigen, a tyrosinase-related protein (TRP) gp75(TRP-1) (the brown locus protein) expressed by melanomas, could induce tumor immunity and autoimmunity manifested as dep...

IL-33/ST2 axis in innate and acquired immunity to tumors

Interleukin-33, a ligand for ST2/T1, has an important role in allergy, autoimmunity and inflammation. The role of IL-33/ST2 axis in cancer is not elucidated. Using metastatic breast cancer model we provide evidence that lack of ST2 signaling led to reduced tumor growth and metastasis and enhanced anti-tumor immunity.

How does autoimmunity cause tumor regression? A potential mechanism involving cross-reaction through epitope mimicry.

BACKGROUND Although the exact mechanisms mediating the initiation of autoimmune diseases are unknown, sequence similarity between infectious agents and self-proteins (epitope mimicry) has been proposed as the main trigger mechanism. Interestingly, this mechanism of epitope mimicry may also evoke potent tumor immunity. Indeed, experimental data support a beneficial role of autoimmunity in some p...

CD4+ T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity can be uncoupled from autoimmunity via the STAT4/STAT6 signaling axis.

Previous reports have suggested that autoimmune sequelae may be an unavoidable consequence of successful immunization against tumor-associated antigens, which are typically non-mutated self-antigens. Using a melanoma model, we demonstrated that CD4(+) T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity and autoimmunity could be separated by modulating the STAT4/STAT6 signaling axis. Our results have revealed a...

Tumor immunity and autoimmunity induced by immunization with homologous DNA.

The immune system can recognize self antigens expressed by cancer cells. Differentiation antigens are prototypes of these self antigens, being expressed by cancer cells and their normal cell counterparts. The tyrosinase family proteins are well characterized differentiation antigens recognized by antibodies and T cells of patients with melanoma. However, immune tolerance may prevent immunity di...
